Hacker News Reader is a Chrome extension that displays recent stories from Hacker News.

Data Collection

Hacker News Reader does not collect, sell, or transfer personal data to the developer or to third parties.

Data Usage

The extension:

• Fetches Hacker News RSS content from https://news.ycombinator.com/rss to display recent stories.
• Opens Hacker News links and a “Submit” link only when you click them.

Local Storage

The extension stores data locally on your device using Chrome’s extension storage (chrome.storage.local) in order to:

• Save user preferences (refresh interval, whether to open links in background tabs)
• Cache recent feed items and the last refresh time

This data remains on your device and is not sent to the developer.

Third Parties

The extension communicates only with:

• news.ycombinator.com (to fetch RSS and open Hacker News pages)
